Kid Cafes: A Mom's Luxury.

Ever since we have arrived in Korea, people have continually reminded us just how hot and miserable the summers are here due to the high level of humidity. We have been encouraged to find indoor outlets to beat the heat. Ok, so I have had hot summers, lots of them.  The summers in Oklahoma at certain times made me think my insides were cooking, but this humidity here is just getting started and it is already two-showers-a-day kind of stickiness. Normally, we would roll out the backyard pool and slip 'n slide and stay in the water all summer, however; pools are in short supply around here and the military base is a pretty long trek for us, thus we are on a mission to find fun and entertaining things to do with The Tot and as a family. Lately, I have heard of a concept called, "Kids Cafes." They are exactly as they sound, hidden jewels full of toys, drinks, wifi, ice cream and even babysitters all catered to the child. Whaaaaat?! I made it a top priority to visit several of these cafes this summer and tonight was our first trip.

If you could have witnessed the day I had with my toddler, you would know burning up her energy was an absolutely must. Our first kids cafe visit was to Tumbleland. It is on the seventh floor of one of the large malls in our areas. We paid a cover charge, about $20.00 or 25,000 WON for 2 hours, and then got to burnin' that energy. You take off your shoes and let your kid party while you hang out in slippers, drink caffeinated beverages and catch up on emails. Watching your child is optional, too. If you are busy or not feeling up to the task, there are plenty of staff members to keep your child safe and happy. E is still so young and doesn't speak Korean, so we played with her . . . this time. :)
